Islamic Terms Explained

Hadeeth:  the saying and doing of Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, including things that he approved. It is usually translated in English as Tradition. Its plural in Arabic is Ahadeeth. 
 

Halaal:  Things which are permissible in Islam. 
 

Haraam: Things which are forbidden in Islam. 
 

Tawheed: belief that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah. 
 

WaHi: A divine revelation sent by Allah to a Prophet. 
 

Malaaeka: Translated into English as angels. According to Islamic belief, they are created of light and are free from any instinct to disobey Allah. They are also gender-free and are not described as male or female. They sincerely follow the orders of Allah.
